Alyssa Skoller

Alyssa is a licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #127107) in the state of California. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and maladaptive behaviors. Her work strives to be culturally inclusive, to acknowledge both the influences within our families and the broader culture that contribute to how we navigate the world. Alyssa received her Masters degree (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotions from the University of Texas at Austin. She then gained extensive clinical experience at Open Paths Counseling Center. There she worked with individuals to address a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, intimate relationships, grief, OCD, childhood traumas, and addiction. Leading group therapy sessions has also been a part of her practice, specifically with an emphasis on social anxiety.

Additionally, Alyssa has been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a form of therapy that enables traumatic experiences to be correctly processed. 

She has a particular interest in social media’s impact on behavior and relationship dynamics. Living in a post pandemic technological age is shaping our behaviors in ways we are still discovering.

Alyssa’s treatment style is rooted in a thoughtful mix of psychodynamic therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), strength-based approaches, solution-focused techniques, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She focuses most importantly on building trust, creating a safe space, and addressing your unique concerns.
